Es Cavallet
Despite it being one of Ibiza’s most famous beaches and being located next to the popular Ses Salines beach, Es Cavallet is more than a kilometre long and 30 metres wide. Its small car park means that it is not a very busy beach, so you will always find plenty of room. Es Cavallet was one of the first nudist beaches in Spain. It stands out for its wild nature, surrounded by dunes and junipers, its clear water and its view of Formentera.
Es Codolar
To the east of Sa Caleta and literally under the airport's plane route, Es Codolar is one of the longest and least frequented beaches on the island. It is completely covered with greyish stones (in Catalan a pebble is a 'codol'), which makes it difficult to access for bathers (we recommend swimming shoes), but once you get past this barrier, its fine sand and crystal clear waters will make you feel like you're in heaven.
On windier days or after a storm some intrepid surfer will try his luck to see if he can ride a wave. It's also popular with the locals, especially dog walkers. The views in the background are of the famous salt ponds of Las Salinas - part of the Ses Salines Natural Park.
Punta Galera
Get ready to be left breathless, because Punta Galera is one of the most impressive landscapes in Ibiza, and the first time you see it you will be awestruck. The cove is made up of huge slabs of smooth rock that form terraces up and down the mountain. Their smooth shape, caused by erosion, makes these stones a great place to sunbathe. It is worth visiting to enjoy its relaxing atmosphere, silence and impressive crystalline waters, perfect for snorkelling.
Cala Xuclar
Cala Xuclar is located in a beautiful natural setting, surrounded by mountains and native vegetation. As it is an enclosed cove, the water is usually calm, so practising sports such as kayaking or paddle surfing may be one of the best ideas that come to mind.
The outside of this almost virgin beach is made up of medium-grain sand, while inside you'll find boulders and rocks that invite you to snorkel. If you remember, grab your fins and snorkel! And if you have a fishing rod and feel like taking it with you, try and see if you can get a bite.
The most prized feature of this cove in the north of San Juan is that it is one of the least crowded during the summer season (or at least it used to be). This allows you to enjoy the sun and the sound of the sea without too many distractions. However, the beach is not too big, so don't expect to arrive at the last minute to choose a spot. You can spread out your towel on the sand or, if you prefer, in front of the fishermen's huts that form part of the landscape. This will give you some extra privacy.
